Which Chipsets Work With AMD's Ryzen 3 Pro 1300 CPU?

AMD's Ryzen Pro CPUs are intended for the business market. They are generally found in pre-built systems and do not support overclocking.

The Ryzen 3 Pro 1300 CPU isn't available in a boxed version. However, you may be able to purchase it in a tray version or as part of a pre-built computer.

Tray versions are sold in bulk, without retail-box packaging. These CPUs are then sometimes sold again, individually.

Which Chipsets Are Compatible With the Ryzen 3 Pro 1300 Processor?

For AMD's Zen-based Ryzen 3 Pro 1300 processor, you'll need a motherboard with an AM4 socket and a compatible chipset.

Motherboards for AMD processors are made with chipsets provided by AMD. Each chipset offers a unique set of capabilities. However, motherboards must explicitly support features and capabilities for you to use them. Verify that a motherboard supports the features and capabilities you desire.

Ryzen 1000-series CPUs, which includes the Ryzen 3 Pro 1300, are compatible with all 300 and 400-series consumer chipsets. Supported chipsets include the X470, B450, X370, B350, and A320.

The X470 and B450 are our recommended chipsets for the Ryzen 3 Pro 1300 CPU, as they provide the most functionality among compatible chipsets.

Note that the Ryzen 3 Pro 1300 CPU only supports PCIe 3.0.

Comparison of PCIe Speeds

PCI-Express speeds are based on the PCI-Express version and the number of lanes used. One lane is referred to as x1, two lanes as x2, etc. PCI-Express technically supports up to a width of x32. However, most consumer motherboards have some set of these PCIe widths: x1, x2, x4, x8, x16.

PCI-Express versions are backward compatible, meaning that you can use a PCIe 4.0 graphics card or storage device on a PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 2.0 system. However, PCI-Express will use speeds based on the lowest of the two versions for communication. For example, if you use a PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD with a PCIe 4.0 system, the SSD would be running at PCIe 3.0 speeds.

Reducing the PCIe version would halve the max potential bandwidth. However, you may not experience a performance impact if your device is not using the available bandwidth.

The bandwidth for each PCIe 4.0 lane is 2 GB/s. 2 GB/s per lane means that if you use a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 device, it would have up to 32 GB/s of bandwidth available to it.

NVMe M.2 SSD cards use 2 or 4 lanes, which means they have 4–8 GB/s available to them with PCIe 4.0.
