Many gaming controllers are available for the Nintendo Switch, making it difficult to choose the right one. With that said, I recommend getting an 8BitDo Pro 2 controller for your Switch. I've used this controller for hundreds of hours, and it still feels great! The 8BitDo Pro 2 feels like a whole new experience (in a good way) compared to other controllers out there.
The 8BitDo Pro 2 has strong build quality; the buttons, triggers, and analog sticks have held up great after months of use. The controller feels just right in my hands while playing. Many people love the D-pad on the Pro 2 for 2D platformer and side-scrollers games. If you're a PC gamer too, this controller works well with PC games also.
The Pro 2 feels very responsive, which helps with the overall feel and experience. The rumble in this controller also feels satisfying while playing. You can adjust various settings, like the vibration levels or add macros, within the controller's "Ultimate" software (available on Windows, Android, and iOS).
Why Not Other Controllers?
As I said above, there are many gaming controllers available. Besides the Joy-Con controllers, there are the official Nintendo Switch Pro controller and other off-brand controllers. The main problem with those other controllers is that there are a lot of quality control issues with them. Cheaper doesn't mean better; other off-brand controllers are often made of lower-quality material and have lower quality software, increasing input lag or further instability.
There are also many reports of analog stick drift with the Nintendo Switch Pro controllers and others. Stick drift is where a game detects movement without moving the analog stick, which can be frustrating while playing.
The 8BitDo Pro 2 is much better than Joy-Con controllers since it has a better overall design that is more comfortable in your hands while playing.
