It really depends on your gaming habits and library size. If you have a small collection, 500GB should be enough. But if you're like me with a large library, you might want to consider getting more storage.
Have you looked at the TechReviewer article Is the Western Digital WD_Black SN850 500 GB Good for Gaming?? It discusses whether 500GB is enough for gaming and provides some insights on different game sizes and storage requirements.
@CardiacCatFan Thanks for sharing that link! I'll definitely check it out. In the meantime, do you have any personal experience with the WD_Black SN850 500GB or know anyone who has used it?
I've been using a WD_Black SN750 SSD for a while now and had no issues with storage space. It's possible that you might need to occasionally delete games or updates to make room for new ones, but overall, I think 500GB should be enough.
Personally, I haven't used the WD_Black SN850 500GB, but I have read some reviews online and they seem pretty positive. People generally report fast performance and satisfaction with the SSD's storage capacity.
@Akinjude Thanks for your input! @CardiacCatFan, what are your thoughts on upgrading to a larger SSD if needed? How much of an impact would it have on my gaming experience?
If you find that 500GB isn't enough, you might want to consider upgrading to a 1TB or even 2TB SSD. The bigger the storage, the less often you'll need to worry about running out of space. As for the impact on your gaming experience, larger SSDs can offer faster read/
I agree with @Akinjude. A bigger SSD would give you more peace of mind regarding storage space, but the impact on gaming performance might not be significant after making the jump from 500GB. It's ultimately up to your budget and personal preference.
@Akinjude, @CardiacCatFan Thanks for your suggestions! I'll take all this into consideration when making my decision. I think I'll read that TechReviewer article you shared, @CardiacCatFan. It might help me make a more informed choice.
I'm currently using the WD_Black SN850 500GB and it works great for me. I have around 30 games installed and I've never had any issues with storage space. Occasionally, I do need to uninstall some games to make room for new ones, but that's just part of having a large game library.
@EvolvingHippie That's good to know! It seems like most people are happy with the WD_Black SN850 500GB and its storage capacity. I'll keep that in mind as I decide whether to get it or go for a bigger SSD.
As @EvolvingHippie mentioned, having a large game library means you might need to uninstall games occasionally. But if your primary concern is gaming performance, the WD_Black SN850 500GB should be more than enough for most users.
@CardiacCatFan Thanks again for all the input! I think I'll go ahead and get the WD_Black SN850 500GB. If it's good enough for you guys, it should work great for me too.
