I recently bought a new wall mount for my Samsung 70" QE1C TV, but I'm not sure if I need a wall plate for it. Can anyone tell me if this is necessary and recommend some good options? I've been searching online but haven't found a definitive answer.

Hey @bibliobump, the wall plate depends on your TV's specifications like weight and VESA size, as well as the type of wall you're mounting it on. Have you checked those out already?
Yes, I did. The Samsung 70" QE1C weighs 63 lbs without the included stand and has a VESA size of 400x300 mm.
Thanks for the info @bibliobump. Based on that, you should be looking at wall mounts that can support your TV's weight and VESA size. You might also want to consider the type of wall you're mounting it on, as this could affect whether you need a wall plate or not.
Hey @bibliobump, I'm using a wall mount for my Samsung 70" QE1C TV without any issues by simply attaching it directly to the studs. However, I did use a wall plate when I mounted my previous TV because the wall was made of plaster. Using a wall plate can provide extra support and make installation easier.
Yeah, @Joaolicia makes a good point about considering the wall type. If you're mounting on drywall, you might be fine without a wall plate. But if it's plaster or brick, a wall plate could provide additional stability and ease of installation.

Thanks everyone. That helps me understand better. I think I'll check my wall type first and then make an informed decision about whether or not to use a wall plate.
