Top DACs & Amps for Beyerdynamic T5

Started by corvette-stirling on May 16, 2024

I recently bought a pair of Beyerdynamic T5 headphones, and I'm looking to improve the sound quality even further. I've heard that using a good DAC amp can make a big difference. Has anyone tried any with their T5s? I'd love some recommendations.

Yeah, I had a similar experience with my T5s. A good DAC amp can really enhance the audio performance of these headphones. I tried both the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M and ARC Mk2 for my setup. The Best DACs With Amps for Beyerdynamic T5 Headphones has a detailed comparison of these two models.

Congrats on your new headphones! I've been using the Beyerdynamic T5 for quite some time now, and I found that adding a DAC amp significantly improved the sound quality. I'm currently using the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M. It's a high-end option but worth every penny.

@cocoabeachbrews. That link looks helpful. Just to clarify, which DAC amp did you find to be better? And how does the sound quality differ between the two?

I haven't tried either of those DAC amps specifically, but I've been using a Fiio Q5 for my T5 headphones, and it's made a world of difference in terms of sound quality. It's a mid-range option, so it's more affordable than the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M.

@corvette-stirling, I personally found the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M to provide better audio quality for my T5 headphones. The sound was more detailed and clear compared to the ARC Mk2. However, the ARC Mk2 is still a great option if you're looking for something more affordable.

Thanks for the input, @cocoabeachbrews and @sealion27. I'm leaning towards trying the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M based on your experiences. What's the best way to connect it to my headphones?

To connect your DacMagic 200M to your T5 headphones, simply use the 6.35mm headphone jack (for balanced connection) or the two 3.5mm jacks (for unbalanced connection). Just make sure you're using the right cables to match the DacMagic 200M's outputs.

Great, thanks for the info @shrimpyd3. I'll go ahead and order the DacMagic 200M. Hopefully, it will take my T5s' sound quality to a whole new level!
