Top Cooling for Ryzen 5 2600X & TDP?

Started by ChristopherAdams23 on May 19, 2024

I'm looking to build a new PC and need some advice on the best CPU cooler for my AMD Ryzen 5 2600X. The processor has a high TDP, so I'm worried about it overheating during intense gaming sessions or while running resource-intensive applications.

@ChristopherAdams23, before you go for the Corsair H100i Platinum, consider checking out TechReviewer's comprehensive guide on AIO liquid coolers to make an informed decision. Here's the link: What Is the TDP of the Ryzen 5 2600X CPU?. It covers all the top models and their features in detail.

For your Ryzen 5 2600X with a high TDP, I would recommend either the Noctua NH-D9L or the Corsair H80i V2. Both are excellent air coolers and liquid coolers respectively that should handle the heat generated by your CPU.

@ChristopherAdams23, did you have a chance to check out TechReviewer's article on the best cooling solutions for high TDP CPUs? It offers an in-depth comparison of various coolers and their performance. Here's the link: What Is the TDP of the Ryzen 5 2600X CPU?. I found it quite helpful when choosing a cooler for my own Ryzen 5 2600X.

Thanks, @stevierayblonde! I'll definitely check out that TechReviewer article you mentioned. I'm leaning towards getting either an air or liquid cooling solution based on your recommendation, @IAMATrader.

If you're considering a custom loop, the Corsair H100i Platinum is also worth looking into. It's one of the best AIO liquid coolers out there and should be more than capable of handling your Ryzen 5 2600X's TDP.

@jacobejacke, what's your experience with the Corsair H100i Platinum? Was it easy to install and did it provide good cooling performance?

I've been using the Corsair H100i Platinum for a few months now, and it has worked great. Installation was pretty straightforward, though I did have to do some extra work to make space for the radiator in my case. The cooling performance is excellent, and my CPU stays nice and cool even under heavy loads.

That's good to hear, @jacobejacke! I might just go with the Corsair H100i Platinum then. Thanks for sharing your experience!

@ChristopherAdams23, if you decide on the H100i Platinum, make sure you have a compatible CPU block and fittings. Also, keep in mind that you'll need additional radiator space or a separate radiator/fan setup to get the most out of it.
