TCL 75Q670G & Multiple HDMI Inputs?

Started by bucklodger on June 16, 2024

I recently bought the TCL 75Q670G TV and am curious about its multiple HDMI inputs. Can anyone provide some guidance on how many inputs I can connect at once, and if there's any particular order or method to set them up? Also, does this TV support HDMI 2.1?

I'm thinking of getting the TCL 75Q670G soon and was curious about the refresh rate. The TechReviewer article HDMI Capabilities of the TCL 75" 75Q670G TV mentions it's 60 Hz, which is good enough for movies and slower-paced content. However, what about faster-paced content like sports or gaming? Is a higher refresh rate more beneficial in those cases?

Great question! The TCL 75Q670G comes with three HDMI ports – two are HDMI 2.0, while one is HDMI 2.1. According to the TechReviewer article HDMI Capabilities of the TCL 75" 75Q670G TV, you can use all of them simultaneously without any issues. As for the order or method, it's best to connect your devices in a way that suits your usage pattern. For example, if you frequently switch between your game console and Blu-ray player, place the HDMI 2.1 port at the front so it's more accessible. Also, remember that HDMI 2.1 supports features like eARC and VRR, which might come in handy for gaming or high-resolution content.

Thanks for the info! I plan on connecting my Xbox Series X (HDMI 2.1) and a soundbar to this TV. Would you recommend using the HDMI 2.1 port for the Xbox and the two HDMI 2.0 ports for other devices?

I've been using my TCL 75Q670G with an Xbox Series X, and I'd suggest going with @bucklodger's plan. The HDMI 2.1 port works great with the console, providing lower latency and faster refresh rates for gaming. You can use the two HDMI 2.0 ports for your soundbar and other devices. Just make sure to set the correct audio format on your Xbox to match what your soundbar supports.

Great advice! I'll go ahead and connect my Xbox Series X to the HDMI 2.1 port, then use the HDMI 2.0 ports for my soundbar and Blu-ray player. Thanks everyone!

Solution

That's a valid point! While 60 Hz can work fine for movies and shows, a higher refresh rate does make a noticeable difference when it comes to fast-moving content like sports and gaming. A 120 Hz refresh rate would provide smoother visuals and reduce motion blur. If you're a big gamer or a sports enthusiast, you might want to consider a TV with a higher refresh rate.

Thanks for the input! I'll definitely keep that in mind when making my decision. Also, if anyone has experience using this TV for gaming, feel free to share your thoughts!

I've been playing games on my TCL 75Q670G for a while now, and it works great for gaming! The response time is good, and I haven't experienced any issues with lag or frame drops. However, if you're looking for VRR support, this TV does not have that. You'll need to look into other models if that's crucial for your gaming experience.

Thanks, @psquid1121! That's helpful to know. So the lack of VRR shouldn't be a problem for general gaming, just for specific titles or features?

Exactly, @SlayerSystems. For most games, you won't notice any issues without VRR. But if you're into competitive gaming or specific genres that benefit from lower latency and tear-free experiences, VRR can make a difference. In those cases, it might be worth checking out other TVs with VRR support.

I appreciate the input from everyone in this thread! Based on the suggestions, I think I'll go for the TCL 75Q670G as it should work great for my needs. Thanks again!
