Special Cooling for Core i9-10900KF?

Started by Mattyj1982 on May 13, 2024

I recently built a PC with the Intel Core i9-10900KF CPU and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for special cooling options? The TDP is quite high, so I want to ensure my system stays cool under heavy load.

I've used the Corsair H100i PRO RGB AIO liquid cooler with my 10900KF, and it performs excellently. It's quite easy to install and looks great too! For that CPU, you might need something more powerful than your regular air cooler. I'd recommend considering a liquid cooling solution like an AIO (all-in-one) cooler. They are pretty efficient and quiet compared to full-blown custom liquid cooling loops.

Solution

That sounds interesting, I'll take a look at the AIO coolers. Do you have any suggestions for specific models? And is it worth spending more on a high-end cooler or would a mid-range one do?

I've been using a Noctua NH-U9S air cooler for my 10900KF, and it's been doing the job well so far. It's not an AIO, but it's a great air cooler that's also quiet and efficient.

Thanks for the suggestions! The Corsair H100i PRO RGB seems to have good reviews, but I'm a bit worried about the maintenance aspect of AIO coolers. Is it difficult to replace the coolant or perform routine maintenance?

Maintenance is pretty straightforward with most AIO coolers. You'll need to flush the radiator and replace the coolant every few years depending on usage. It's not as simple as an air cooler, but it's definitely manageable. The benefits of a silent operation and better cooling performance usually outweigh the maintenance for me.

That makes sense! I think I'll start looking into AIO coolers then. Thanks everyone for the advice!
