I recently purchased a Sony X90L 85-inch TV and I'm curious if the HDMI ports on this model will be enough for my setup. Can anyone help me with that?
Sony X90L HDMI Ports - Adequate for My Setup?
Started by eyesofjune on June 12, 2024
Hey, @eyesofjune! The Sony X90L does have four HDMI ports in total - two of them are HDMI 2.1, while the other two are HDMI 2.0. I'm not sure about your specific devices, but if you're mainly using it for gaming and streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, that should be more than enough.
Hi @eyesofjune! To answer your question, it really depends on what devices you have connected to your TV. If you only use a soundbar, Blu-ray player, and gaming console, the HDMI ports should be sufficient. However, if you plan on connecting multiple high-end gaming consoles or other devices that require more bandwidth, you might need additional ports.
Hi @eyesofjune! I'm using an X90L and find that the HDMI ports are quite adequate for my setup. I have a soundbar connected to one of the HDMI 2.1 ports, a Blu-ray player connected to an HDMI 2.0 port, and a gaming console connected to another HDMI 2.1 port. I haven't encountered any issues so far.
Hey @eyesofjune! You might find this TechReviewer article HDMI Capabilities of the Sony 85" X90L TV helpful in understanding the capabilities of your Sony X90L's HDMI ports. It goes into detail about the features, such as VRR and eARC, which could be beneficial for you depending on your setup.
@lousiana! I'll definitely check out that article. So, based on what everyone has said, it seems like the HDMI ports should be enough for my current setup. But if I decide to add more devices in the future, I might need to consider getting a signal booster or additional HDMI switches.
That's a good point, @eyesofjune. If you plan on expanding your setup, investing in a signal booster or HDMI switch could be worthwhile. It'll ensure that your TV's ports don't become a bottleneck for your entertainment system.
Exactly, @eyesofjune! It's always better to future-proof your setup as much as possible. A good-quality signal booster can make a huge difference when it comes to maintaining optimal performance with multiple devices connected to your TV.
I agree with everyone here. Future-proofing is essential if you want to enjoy the full potential of your TV and its HDMI ports. It's better to spend a little extra upfront than to deal with issues later on.
Thanks for all the helpful advice! I'll definitely keep that in mind as my setup evolves. Appreciate it, everyone!
I'm glad I could help, @eyesofjune! If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask anytime. Good luck with your TV and your future entertainment setup!
