Sony 43" X80K TV Refresh Rates?

Started by Greenweaver90 on June 19, 2024

I'm looking for some advice on the refresh rate of the Sony 43" X80K TV. Is it good for gaming and fast-paced content? I've read a bit about HDMI capabilities but could use some input from those who have experience with this TV.

The Sony 43" X80K has a native refresh rate of 60 Hz, which is suitable for most content. However, if you enjoy fast-paced content or gaming, a higher refresh rate would provide smoother motion. You can find more information in the TechReviewer article HDMI Capabilities of the Sony 43" X80K TV.

Thanks @SamuraiShareef. The refresh rate seems okay for my needs. But do you know if it supports HDMI 2.1 and VRR?

I have the Sony X80K TV, and I'm quite happy with its performance. It doesn't support HDMI 2.1 or VRR, but the 60 Hz refresh rate is sufficient for my needs. For gaming, I use a PS4 Pro which also supports 1080p at 60fps, so it works well.

That's good to know @MesmerizingHS. So if I'm mainly watching slower-paced content like movies and TV shows, would the refresh rate be enough or should I consider a higher one?

For me, the 60 Hz refresh rate is more than sufficient for watching movies and TV shows. The only time I notice any motion issues is during fast-paced sports events or action-packed video games. But for regular content, it's been great.

That's a good point @Mattathon. It really depends on the type of content you watch most often. If you're mostly watching slower-paced content, then the 60 Hz refresh rate should be more than adequate. However, if you're looking for smoother motion during fast-paced content or gaming, you might want to consider a TV with a higher refresh rate.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'll stick with the Sony 43" X80K then. The reviews and user experiences have been quite positive overall. Appreciate all the advice!
