I'm considering getting either the Intel Core i7-12700K or the Core i7-12700 for my new build. Has anyone noticed any significant performance differences between these two CPUs? It would be great to hear some experiences and insights!
Significant Performance Differences in i7-12700K & 12700?

Hi @Tzalok-Ghakor! Both the i7-12700K and i7-12700 have 12 cores, 20 threads, and 25 MB L3 cache, so their basic specs are pretty similar. I've been using an i7-12700K for a while now, and it's served me well. The main difference is the base frequency, turbo frequencies, and overclocking capabilities. Have you checked out this TechReviewer article comparing them? Intel Core i7-12700K vs. Intel Core i7-12700
Thanks for the info, @alexalextan55! I didn't realize there was such a significant difference in the base and turbo frequencies. Also, that it's possible to overclock the i7-12700K but not the 12700. That could be really useful for when I'm doing some heavy multitasking or gaming!
Hey @Tzalok-Ghakor! Both CPUs have their advantages, so it really depends on your specific needs and budget. For example, if you're a gamer, the i7-12700K might offer better performance due to its higher turbo frequencies.
I've been using an i7-12700 for a while now in my gaming rig, and it runs pretty well for me. Of course, having a good GPU helps too. But I can't really say I noticed any huge difference between the two CPUs in terms of performance.
Oh yeah, and don't forget about DDR5 support! The i7-12700K has a max stock speed of 4800 MHz, while the i7-12700 also supports DDR5 with the same max stock speed. I found this article Intel Core i7-12700K vs. Intel Core i7-12700 that gives a good overview of their differences.
Great points, everyone! So it sounds like the i7-12700K might be better for those who need higher turbo frequencies and want the option to overclock. But if my budget is tight, the i7-12700 could still provide great performance too. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
You're welcome, @Tzalok-Ghakor! Remember that personal preferences and requirements play a big role in choosing the right CPU. Good luck with your decision!
