I've been researching the different HDMI ports on the Samsung Q60B 70" TV and was wondering if anyone could clarify some things for me. I'm particularly interested in knowing if it supports HDMI 2.1 and VRR.

Hi @kb24exodo! The Samsung Q60B does support three HDMI 2.0 ports, but unfortunately no HDMI 2.1 ports. As for VRR, it doesn't appear to be supported either. You can find more information about the TV's specifications in this TechReviewer article HDMI Capabilities of the Samsung 70" Q60B TV.
Thanks @poselocke! I appreciate the info. So, even though the TV has a refresh rate of 60Hz, which is generally okay for most content, does it mean that gaming will be less smooth since VRR is not supported?
Hi @kb24exodo! Your concern about the 60Hz refresh rate and lack of VRR is valid. However, if you mostly watch content like movies or shows, you might not notice much difference. Gaming could potentially be smoother with a higher refresh rate and VRR support, but it really depends on your preferences.
@kb24exodo, @wheatthin92 makes a good point. I've been using the Q60B for gaming, and while I can tell that 120Hz would be nicer, it's still perfectly playable at 60Hz. It's more about personal preference and what you're comfortable with. But if you want to future-proof your setup, consider getting a TV with HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR support.
Thanks for the input, everyone! I've been reading up on TechReviewer's article HDMI Capabilities of the Samsung 70" Q60B TV too, which talks more about HDMI capabilities of this TV, including the three HDMI 2.0 ports and lack of HDMI 2.1 ports. It also discusses eARC support, which is a plus.
That's good to know, @NattyGoat! I didn't realize that eARC was supported, even without HDMI 2.1. What are your thoughts on the overall TV? Have you been happy with it for gaming and media consumption?
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the Samsung Q60B. The picture quality is excellent, and eARC support means I can enjoy high-quality audio from my devices. Gaming is still enjoyable at 60Hz, though I'd love to try a higher refresh rate one day.
Glad to hear you're enjoying your TV, @NattyGoat! @brave-new and I were just discussing how future-proofing your setup could be beneficial if you plan on playing more graphically intensive games. It's worth considering for those who prioritize gaming performance.
True, @poselocke. If gaming is a priority, it might be worth looking into a TV with HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR support for that smoother experience. But if you're mostly watching movies or shows, the Q60B should serve you well.
Exactly! It's all about finding the right balance between price, features, and personal preferences. The Samsung Q60B is a great option for many, but it might not be the best choice for those who want top-notch gaming performance.
