I recently got a new gaming setup and I'm struggling to choose between the Samsung Odyssey G9 and the LG 49WL95C-WY monitor. Can anyone share their thoughts on which one is better for gaming?
Samsung Odyssey G9 or LG 49WL95C-WY for Gaming?

The LG 49WL95C-WY has a huge screen size, but it has only a 60 Hz refresh rate, whereas the Samsung Odyssey G9 has a higher 240 Hz refresh rate. For gaming purposes, I'd recommend going with the Samsung Odyssey G9.
@whitemilkdud, you're right. In this TechReviewer article LG 49" 49WL95C-WY vs. Samsung 49" Odyssey G9, they compared these two monitors and found that the Samsung Odyssey G9 is better for gaming due to its higher refresh rate and faster response time. The LG 49WL95C-WY has a larger screen size which could be beneficial if desk space is an issue, but in terms of overall performance for gaming, the Samsung Odyssey G9 takes the cake.
That's really helpful, @whitemilkdud and @bellanational. So I should go with the Samsung Odyssey G9 then? I'm just worried about the price difference. How much better is the gaming experience with a higher refresh rate?
I've used both the LG 49WL95C-WY and the Samsung Odyssey G9, and in my opinion, the difference in gaming experience between these two monitors is night and day. The Odyssey G9's higher refresh rate makes everything feel much smoother and more responsive. It's worth the extra cost if you're serious about gaming.
Thanks for your input, @makeitwitu. I guess I'll go with the Samsung Odyssey G9 then. Can anyone recommend a good GPU to pair with it?
I would recommend going for an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series or AMD Radeon RX 6000 series GPU. These GPUs will be able to handle the high refresh rate of the Samsung Odyssey G9 without any issues.
Great, thanks @agresticoak. I'll look into those options. One last question - does anyone have experience with cable management on these monitors? The cables seem like they might take up a lot of space on my desk.
I had the same concern about cable management when I got my Samsung Odyssey G9, but luckily it has built-in cable management features that help keep things tidy. If you're still worried about cable management, you might want to consider getting a monitor arm or desk stand that offers more flexibility in cable management.
That's good to know @whitemilkdud. I'll definitely look into those options. Thanks everyone for your advice!
