Started by whiteant17 on May 17, 2024

I recently picked up a new gaming PC and I'm trying to choose between the Samsung 27" G5 Odyssey and Dell 27" S2721DGF monitor for my setup. Can anyone tell me which one has better screen refresh rate for gaming?

I've used both the Samsung G5 and the Dell S2721DGF, and I must say they're both fantastic. But when it comes to color accuracy, the Dell monitor takes the cake with its 97% DCI-P3 coverage compared to the Samsung G5's 72% NTSC coverage. You can check out a detailed comparison in this TechReviewer article Samsung 27" G5 Odyssey vs. Dell 27" S2721DGF.

Both monitors have a screen refresh rate of 144 Hz, which is excellent for gaming!

Solution

Thanks for sharing your experience and that link! I didn't realize how much of a difference there could be in color accuracy between these two monitors. That makes me lean more towards the Dell S2721DGF now.

I'm glad to hear it! The screen refresh rate is definitely important, but don't underestimate the impact of great color accuracy, especially for games with rich visuals like Cyberpunk 2077. It can make a world of difference in immersion and overall enjoyment.

What about response time? I heard that's also crucial for smooth gaming performance.

You're right, response time is important too! Both the Samsung G5 and Dell S2721DGF have a response time of 1 ms, which is excellent for gaming. That means you'll get super smooth motion with less ghosting or blurring in fast-paced games.

Great to know! I'm starting to think the Dell S2721DGF might be the way to go. Thanks for all your input!

You're welcome! It's nice to have some expert advice from people who've actually used these monitors. Good luck with your decision!

That's the spirit! Don't hesitate to ask more questions if you have them. Happy gaming!
