I'm looking for a new monitor and am currently deciding between the Samsung G5 Odyssey and the AOC CQ32G1. I heard that response time is crucial in gaming, but I'm not sure which one has the better response time. Can anyone help me out?
Samsung G5 Odyssey vs AOC CQ32G1 Response Time?
Started by Caldelicious on May 05, 2024
Hi @Caldelicious, both monitors have a refresh rate of 144 Hz, which should result in a smooth gaming experience. However, the Samsung G5 Odyssey has a faster response time of 1 ms compared to the AOC CQ32G1's 4 ms. That being said, I would recommend checking out this TechReviewer article Samsung 32" G5 Odyssey vs. AOC 31.5" CQ32G1 for more details and comparisons between these two monitors.
I have used both of these monitors before, and I can confirm that the Samsung G5 Odyssey's faster response time does make a noticeable difference in gaming, especially during fast-paced action scenes. The AOC CQ32G1 is still good, but you will notice some ghosting or blurring if you play games with quick movements.
That's interesting, I didn't realize the difference in response times would be so noticeable. Thanks for sharing your experience, @Themainfox14. Based on what you said, it seems like the G5 Odyssey might be a better fit for my gaming setup. However, does anyone have any experiences with either of these monitors' color accuracy?
I've used both the Samsung G5 Odyssey and AOC CQ32G1, and I can say that they both have good color accuracy. It really depends on your personal preferences and what type of games you usually play. If you're into fast-paced shooters or racing games, then the G5 Odyssey's faster response time might be more beneficial.
@Caldelicious, based on the TechReviewer article Samsung 32" G5 Odyssey vs. AOC 31.5" CQ32G1 I mentioned earlier, both monitors have good color accuracy. The Samsung G5 Odyssey has 72% NTSC coverage while the AOC CQ32G1 has a wider 100% SRGB coverage. You might want to consider which color space is more important for your gaming needs.
In my experience, I found that the AOC CQ32G1's wider color space didn't really make a huge difference in my games, but it could be useful if you're into content creation or watching movies. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and what you prioritize in a gaming monitor.
Exactly, @Themainfox14. It's important to consider your specific needs and preferences when choosing a monitor. If the faster response time of the G5 Odyssey is more important to you, then that might be the better option for you. But if you're also interested in color accuracy or have other priorities, the AOC CQ32G1 could be worth considering.
Thanks everyone for your insights! Based on what you've said, I think I'll go with the Samsung G5 Odyssey since response time is more crucial to me for gaming. But I'll also keep in mind the AOC CQ32G1 if my priorities change in the future.
