Ryzen 9 7950X3D vs Intel Core i9-11900F - Better for Gaming?

Started by drgoodguy on May 16, 2024

I'm in a dilemma between the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the Intel Core i9-11900F. Both seem great for gaming, but I don't know which one would be better. Can anyone help me out?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D vs. Intel Core i9-11900F TechReviewer did an evaluation of the two processors, and it's quite informative. It could help you make a decision based on your specific needs and usage.

Personally, I think both CPUs are fantastic for gaming, but they have their differences. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D has a higher base frequency and a larger L3 cache, which can result in better performance for CPU-intensive games.

Solution

Thanks @Danny0402. That link looks really helpful! I'll definitely check it out.

Another factor to consider is the number of cores and threads. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D has more cores, which can be beneficial for certain games that take advantage of multiple cores. However, not all games benefit from having a high core count.

That's true, @audiodelic536. Most modern games don't benefit from having more than 6-8 cores. So if you play mostly single-threaded or lightly threaded games, the i9-11900F might be a better choice.

I've been using the Ryzen 9 7950X3D for a while now and it's fantastic! The higher refresh rate makes a huge difference in gaming, especially during fast-paced matches like Apex Legends. The resolution is also great for immersive gaming experiences.

I've used both CPUs as well, and they're really close in performance. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and your specific needs. If you want more cores and a higher base frequency, go for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. If you prefer better color accuracy and have limited desk space, consider the i9-11900F.

Thanks everyone for the input! I'll check out the TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D vs. Intel Core i9-11900F mentioned by @Danny0402 and see if it helps me make a decision.
