Any advice on choosing the best modem for my new setup? I'm getting the Xfinity 1 Gigabit plan and need something that can handle it.

I've been using the Motorola MB7621 for a while now, and it's been working great. It's compatible with Xfinity and can handle gigabit speeds without any issues. You can find more details in this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 7700X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. I'd recommend giving it a try.
Thanks for the recommendation, @audiodelic536. What about modem-router combos? Are they a better option or should I stick with a separate modem and router?
I'm not sure if I want to spend extra on a combo device. Is there any significant advantage of having them as one unit?
The Motorola MB7621 is a standalone modem, so it won't interfere with your existing router. Combos can sometimes have compatibility issues with certain ISPs or routers. The main advantage of combos is the convenience of having everything in one device, but if you already have a good router, it might be better to go with a separate modem like the MB7621.
That's helpful, @audiodelic536. I'll look into the Motorola MB7621 then. How about customer support? Has your experience been good?
My experience with Motorola's customer support has been positive. They were quick to respond and help me troubleshoot any issues I had.
I've also heard good things about the Netgear Nighthawk CM1150, which is another standalone modem compatible with Xfinity. It has a built-in firewall and advanced security features that might be useful. You can check out more details in this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 7700X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X.
Thanks for sharing, @ECHOtheSound. I'll consider the Netgear Nighthawk CM1150 as well. Does anyone have experience with it?
I've been using the Netgear Nighthawk CM1150 for a few months now, and it's been working great. It's easy to set up, and the security features are definitely a plus. I'd recommend giving it a try.
@HabaneroSauce, thanks for sharing your experience with the Netgear Nighthawk CM1150. It seems like both modems mentioned here should work well with Xfinity's 1 Gigabit plan. It ultimately depends on personal preferences and budget, but either one would be a good choice.
I agree with @audiodelic536. Both modems are reputable brands and have received positive reviews from users. The Motorola MB7621 is more affordable, while the Netgear Nighthawk CM1150 offers additional security features. Ultimately, choose the one that suits your needs and budget best.
