I'm looking to get a new CPU for video editing, and I was wondering what's better between the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and 1700X. Any advice would be helpful!

Hey @birkezaoud, both CPUs are great for video editing, but the Ryzen 7 3700X has some advantages over the 1700X. According to this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, it has a higher base frequency and single-core boost frequency, which should make it better for handling the high processing demands of video editing.
Yeah, I've been using the 1700X for a while now and it works fine for basic editing tasks. But I switched to the 3700X in my new build and noticed a significant improvement in rendering times and overall performance. So I'd recommend going with the 3700X if you can afford it.
The TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X also points out that the 3700X has better PCIe version compatibility, which is beneficial for video editing tasks involving large data processing. That's just another reason why it might be a better choice for your needs!
Thanks for all the input! I'll definitely consider those factors when making my decision. Just one more question, how do you think these CPUs would handle 4K video editing? Any suggestions?
The 3700X should perform better than the 1700X in 4K video editing due to its higher base frequency and single-core boost frequency. Also, having a larger L3 cache can help with handling large data processing, which is crucial for 4K video editing.
I've been using the 3700X for some time now, and it handles 4K video editing really well! The extra cores and higher frequencies make a huge difference in terms of rendering times and overall performance. It's definitely worth the investment if you're serious about video editing.
That's great to hear! I'll probably go with the 3700X then. Thanks for all your help!
No problem, @birkezaoud! Good luck with your new build! If you have any more questions or need advice in the future, don't hesitate to ask.
