I've been looking into AMD's Ryzen 7 1700 for my PC build, and I'm curious about its performance in popular games. Has anyone had any experience with this CPU?

I've read a good TechReviewer article about this CPU's performance in popular games. Is the Ryzen 7 1700 CPU Good for Gaming? It provides an overview of the Ryzen 7 1700 and its specifications, as well as a comparison to other CPUs on the market.

Yeah, I've used the Ryzen 7 1700 in my personal project for a few months now. It performs decently in popular games due to its 8 cores and 3.7 GHz single-core max boost frequency, which are good for performance with the latest graphics-intensive games. However, its mediocre L3 cache of 16 MB, PCIe 3.0 support, and DDR4 stock speed of 2667 MHz can limit its overall gaming potential.

That's super useful! It looks like the refresh rate is 144Hz, which seems like it'd be great for gaming. Do you think this CPU would handle more demanding games without any issues?

I've been using the Ryzen 7 1700 in my gaming PC for a while now, and I must say that I'm quite satisfied with its performance. The 8 cores allow me to run most of my games at high settings without any problems. However, I did have to upgrade my GPU to handle some of the more demanding titles.

Same here! The Ryzen 7 1700 performs great in most games, but if you want to play the latest, graphics-intensive games at ultra settings, you might need a better GPU and possibly an overclocked version of this CPU or a different one with more cores.

Yeah, I agree with both @benjavision and @EskeetmoJoe. While the Ryzen 7 1700 is great for popular games, if you want to run demanding titles at ultra settings, you might need to consider upgrading your GPU and possibly the CPU as well. It's always good to have a backup plan for future-proofing your system.

Thanks for all the input! I appreciate it. Based on what you've said, I think I'll go ahead and get the Ryzen 7 1700, but I will definitely keep an eye out for any deals on GPUs in the future.

That sounds like a solid plan! Good luck with your build, and don't forget to check out @Camaro70's recommended TechReviewer article for more detailed information about this CPU. Have fun building your PC!

I'll definitely take a look at the article before starting my build. Appreciate all the help!
