I'm building a new PC and I need some advice on the power needs for an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. Can anyone help me out?

Absolutely, @Maya1010. The TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Power Supply for AMD's Ryzen 5 3600 CPU provides some insight into how different components affect the total power draw of a system. It's definitely worth taking a look at if you haven't already.

Sure, @ishmaelmcculligan! For your Ryzen 5 3600, you'll need to consider both its peak power consumption and other components' power draw. According to TechReviewer, the recommended power supply wattage is around 850 watts for top-tier components.

@ishmaelmcculligan, when choosing a power supply unit (PSU) for your Ryzen 5 3600, you should take into account not just the CPU but also other key components like the graphics card and motherboard. A good example of a high-quality PSU is the Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 Series 80+ Gold Full Modular ATX 3.0 PCIe Gen 5 Power Supply which provides excellent performance and efficiency.

@ishmaelmcculligan, I'd agree with @Markelmann on that. If you're going for top-tier components like a high-end GPU, make sure to factor those into your power supply calculations too. It's always better to have a bit extra capacity than not enough. You can check out the TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Power Supply for AMD's Ryzen 5 3600 CPU for more details and recommendations.

Thanks for the advice! I'm still trying to figure out if I should go with a 750-1650 watt PSU or something lower, like a 650-1000 watt one.

@ishmaelmcculligan, if you're building a system with mid-tier components, you might not need as much power. The recommended power supply wattage would then be around 550 watts according to TechReviewer. But remember, adding some buffer for future upgrades or possible miscalculations is always a good idea.

@RemondBall makes a valid point. It's important to plan ahead and leave room for growth or potential component changes that might increase your power needs. Also, make sure the PSU you choose has the right connectors for your hardware.

That's helpful! I'll check out the article and consider my options. Thanks for the advice, everyone!

No problem, @ishmaelmcculligan! Good luck with your build, and feel free to ask more questions if you have them.

Same here, happy building!
