I'm considering getting a new CPU and was wondering if the Ryzen 3 5300G is any good for gaming. Has anyone tried it out?

Yeah, I've been using the Ryzen 3 5300G for a while now and it works fine for me! I can play most games on medium settings without any issues. Check out this TechReviewer article Is the Ryzen 3 5300G CPU Good for Gaming? for a more in-depth analysis of its performance.

Thanks @billyshpilkis, that's good to know. The single-core boost frequency seems impressive, but what about the PCIe support? Isn't it limited to PCIe 3.0?

That's correct, @Applestiener. The Ryzen 3 5300G does have PCIe 3.0 support, which means it may not be ideal for fast SSDs or GPUs. However, if you're using a pre-built computer like the HP Pavilion TP01 Desktop Computer - AMD Ryzen 3-5300G, it should still work fine.

Oh I see, thanks for the explanation @answerskate. How's the L3 cache size? Is that good for gaming?

The L3 cache size of the Ryzen 3 5300G is 8 MB, which isn't great. You'd probably want something with at least 20 MB for better game performance. However, it does get the job done for casual gamers.

Alright then, I guess I'll have to look into other options if I want a better gaming experience. Thanks for all the info everyone!

No problem, @Applestiener. Just remember that you might need to invest in a high-end cooler if you plan on overclocking. Good luck with your search!
