Ryzen 3 4100 CPU Cooler Recommendations?

Started by blacknorthwind on May 20, 2024

I recently bought a new AMD Ryzen 3 4100 processor and am trying to find the best CPU cooler for it. Can you guys recommend any top choices? I've heard that CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Liquid CPU Cooler is one of the best options out there, but wanted to get some more opinions.

Both the CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Liquid CPU Cooler and the Noctua NH-D15 offer excellent cooling performance for the AMD Ryzen 3 4100. The choice comes down to personal preferences, budget, and noise levels. If you're looking for a more visually striking option and don't mind paying extra, go for the CORSAIR iCUE H150i. For a quieter, more affordable option, the Noctua NH-D15 is a great choice. You can read more about this in TechReviewer's article Choosing the Best CPU Cooler for AMD's Ryzen 3 4100.

Hi @blacknorthwind, the CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Liquid CPU Cooler is indeed a great choice for a liquid cooler. It's efficient and has an LED display, but it can be a bit pricey. I've also heard good things about the Noctua NH-D15 as an air cooler option. It's known for being quiet and having good airflow. You can find more information in this TechReviewer article Choosing the Best CPU Cooler for AMD's Ryzen 3 4100.

The AMD Ryzen 3 4100 has a TDP range of 65-88 watts, so you'll need a cooler that matches or exceeds its peak TDP. I've used the CORSAIR H150i and found it to be great for keeping my CPU cool, even under heavy load. However, if you're on a budget, the Noctua NH-D15 is also an excellent choice. It's a bit quieter than liquid coolers and has good compatibility with AM4 sockets.

Thanks for the input @Camaro70. I'm considering the CORSAIR H150i, but would like to know if it's worth the extra cost compared to air coolers like Noctua NH-D15. Also, can you tell me more about the noise levels of both these coolers?

The CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Liquid CPU Cooler is pretty quiet when idle, but under load, it does get a bit louder compared to air coolers. The Noctua NH-D15, on the other hand, is known for its near-silent operation even at full speed. If noise levels are a priority for you, I would recommend going with the Noctua NH-D15.

Thanks @Reeznov43. It seems like the Noctua NH-D15 might be the better choice for me since I prioritize noise levels. But how do these coolers compare in terms of cooling performance? Is there a significant difference between liquid and air coolers?
