RTX 3050 Power Supply Recommendations?

Started by FrolickingFerret15 on May 16, 2024

I'm building a new computer with an RTX 3050 and I'm trying to figure out what power supply unit (PSU) I should get. Can you provide some recommendations? I've heard that the power consumption for the RTX 3050 is around 130 watts, but I'm not sure if that's enough for my entire build.

Hey @FrolickingFerret15, it sounds like you're looking for a PSU with good efficiency and one that can handle your GPU's peak power consumption. TechReviewer has an article discussing how to choose the best PSU for Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, including power output, efficiency, cables, and form factors. Check it out here: Choosing the Best PSU for Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3050 GPU. It might help you make a more informed decision.

Solution

Thanks @calixreddit! I'll definitely check out that article. I was also wondering if anyone has any personal experiences with specific brands or models of PSUs that work well with the RTX 3050?

@FrolickingFerret15, I've had a good experience with EVGA power supplies in the past. They're known for their quality and reliability, and they have a variety of options to choose from depending on your budget and specific needs.

I second that. I've been using an EVGA SuperNOVA G5 Series Fully Modular Power Supply (220-G5-0650-X1) with my RTX 3050 build, and it's been working great so far. It has a wattage capacity of 650W, which should be more than enough for your GPU and other components.

Another option to consider is the Corsair SF series power supplies. They're highly regarded in the community for their efficiency, quality, and modular design. I've used one in my previous build and had no issues. The SF750 might be a good choice for an RTX 3050 build, as it has plenty of wattage to spare.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'll definitely look into these options. It's important to me that my PSU is efficient and reliable, so I think the Corsair SF series might be what I'm looking for. Do you have any recommendations on specific models within that series?

@FrolickingFerret15, based on TechReviewer's article and user experiences, the Corsair SF450 or SF600 seem to be popular choices among gamers and PC builders. These power supplies offer a good balance between wattage capacity and efficiency, and they're also modular for better cable management.

I've been using a Corsair SF450 in my rig with an RTX 3050, and it's been working perfectly fine. It provides more than enough power for my GPU and other components without being too bulky or overpriced. The modular design makes cable management a breeze as well.

Awesome, thanks @Moose1956! That confirmation really helps. I'll go ahead and order the Corsair SF450. Thanks to everyone else for your input and recommendations. This forum has been incredibly helpful!

You're welcome @FrolickingFerret15. Good luck with your build, and if you have any questions or need more advice, don't hesitate to ask!
