I'm planning to build a new PC and was wondering if the Core i7-13700F is a good choice. Has anyone had any experience with it?

To add to what @wbrandeler said, there's an excellent TechReviewer article that discusses this in detail. You can find it here: What Is the TDP of the Core i7-13700F CPU?. It goes into depth about how to choose a power supply based on your CPU's TDP.

Yeah, I've built a system around the Core i7-13700F recently. The CPU performs great for gaming and content creation. The TDP of 65 watts at base frequency and 219 watts at max turbo frequency should be fine for most use cases.

Thanks for the input, @OldElvis. I'm interested in knowing more about selecting a power supply based on the TDP. Can you recommend a suitable PSU?

Based on my experience with building PCs, it's essential to choose a power supply with a wattage rating higher than the max turbo TDP of your CPU. So for the Core i7-13700F, I would go for at least 750 watts.

Solution

That's really helpful, @RenegadeBeaver. I appreciate the link! So, let's say I go for a 750-watt PSU. Would that be enough for other components like GPU and RAM as well?

Typically, you'll need to consider the wattage requirements of your GPU and RAM in addition to your CPU's TDP. Make sure to check the specifications of the components you plan to use and add up their recommended power supply ratings.

Good point, @OldElvis. It's always a good idea to go for a PSU with a little extra capacity than what's strictly necessary to accommodate any potential future upgrades or changes in usage patterns.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Based on your suggestions, I think I'll go ahead and order the Core i7-13700F along with a 750-1650 watt ATX power supply from my local store. Any other recommendations?

Sounds like a solid plan! Good luck with your new PC build.
