I'm looking to build a rig around an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU. Can you guys recommend a power supply unit (PSU) that would be best for it?

Hey @Jaywill2755, I've been using the Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 Series 80+ Gold Full Modular ATX 3.0 PCIe Gen 5 Power Supply, and it's been working great! You can find more information in this TechReviewer article Choosing the Best PSU for AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU. The peak power consumption of the RX 7900 XTX GPU is 355 W, so you might need a PSU with at least 900 watts.
Wow, that sounds like a good choice! Thanks for the recommendation @Runeowl73. What about the efficiency and modular features? How important are they for a rig with the RX 7900 XTX GPU?
Hey there @Jaywill2755, I agree with @Runeowl73 on the Thermaltake Toughpower GF3. It's a reliable PSU with a good balance of power, efficiency, and modularity. The modular design is nice for cable management in smaller cases, but it's not as crucial for larger cases.
I was looking at the Corsair RM750x Power Supply Unit. It has an 80+ Gold certification, which should be efficient enough for the RX 7900 XTX GPU. Plus, it's fully modular, so you can customize your cable lengths as needed. What do you think about this option?
That sounds like a great option too! I'm starting to lean towards either the Thermaltake or Corsair. Can anyone compare these two based on their efficiency ratings and modularity? Also, any input on the cable lengths for larger cases would be helpful.
Both the Thermaltake and Corsair power supplies are excellent choices. The 80+ Gold certification ensures that they're both efficient options. As for modularity, it's more about personal preference and your specific build. Regarding cable lengths, most power supplies will have cables long enough for mid-sized towers. If you have a full-size tower, make sure to check the documentation for the PSU to ensure compatibility.
One thing I'd like to add is that, in my experience, longer cables can be a hassle when trying to reach components in tighter spaces within larger cases. So it might be better to go with a power supply that has cable lengths optimized for those situations.
Good point @sayyylem. I guess it really depends on the specific case you're using and your build preferences. Both Thermaltake and Corsair offer great options, so it's ultimately up to you which one suits your needs best.
Thanks everyone for your input! It's really helpful to hear different perspectives. Based on what you've said, I think I'll go with the Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 Series 80+ Gold Full Modular ATX 3.0 PCIe Gen 5 Power Supply. It seems to be a great balance of power, efficiency, and modularity for my AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU.
That's a smart choice @Jaywill2755. I'm sure you'll be happy with the Thermaltake PSU. Good luck with your build!
