I'm looking to build a new PC and need some advice on power supplies. What's the best way to choose one for an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X CPU?

Both EVGA and Thermaltake are reputable brands. However, it ultimately depends on your personal preference and budget. You might want to check out this TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Power Supply for AMD's Ryzen 7 7700X CPU that discusses the best power supplies for different budgets.

Hi @customautoreply, have you checked out this article by TechReviewer? It provides an overview of selecting the right power supply for your Ryzen 7 7700X CPU. The link is Choosing the Best Power Supply for AMD's Ryzen 7 7700X CPU.

Thanks, @triple-t-type. I've gone through the article and found it very helpful. Now I'm a bit confused about choosing between a 750-1650 watt PSU or a 650-1000 watt one.

Well, @customautoreply, you should consider your other components as well when selecting a power supply. For instance, if you plan on having a high-end graphics card and multiple storage devices, you might need more power than what a 650-1000 watt PSU can offer.

To add to what @lumberjackshirt said, it's important to factor in the PPT limit of your CPU. The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X has a peak power draw of 142 watts according to its PPT limit. This should be included when determining the overall power supply for your entire system.

That makes sense, @subinboston. But what's the best PSU brand out there? I've heard EVGA and Thermaltake are good, but which one would you recommend?

Solution

I've always had good experiences with Corsair power supplies too. They offer a variety of options at different price points, so you can find one that suits your needs.

Thanks for all the input! I think I'll look into both EVGA and Corsair options and see which one fits my budget and requirements better. Appreciate it!
