Yeah, @brave-new, you're right about the core count. The Ryzen 5 5600 comes with 6 cores and 12 threads while the Ryzen 9 3900X features 12 cores and 24 threads. That said, I found a useful article discussing this comparison at AMD Ryzen 5 5600 vs. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X.

I've heard that the Ryzen 9 has more cores which can help with multitasking. Is that true?

Thanks for sharing that link, @RambooPanda. What about performance? Does having more cores mean it would be better for me?

It really depends on your specific use case. If you're into gaming or have a lot of single-threaded applications, the Ryzen 5 5600 might serve you well. On the other hand, if you're running multiple resource-heavy applications at once, the Ryzen 9 3900X could be more beneficial.

Good point, @LanaAndNeal. Additionally, the 3900X has a higher base frequency and a slightly better single-core boost frequency, which can contribute to improved performance in certain tasks. But remember that you'll need a high-end cooler for those frequencies.

Thanks for all the information, guys! So it really comes down to my specific needs and budget. I might check out the link @RambooPanda shared again to see if there's any more insight. Appreciate your help!

No problem, @faechild. Just remember that both of these CPUs are great options. It ultimately depends on what you're planning to do with them.

True story! Good luck with your search, @faechild!
