I'm currently trying to decide between the BenQ 27" PD2700U and BenQ 27" PD2705Q for gaming, but I'm having a hard time deciding which one is better. Can anyone share their experiences or recommendations?
PD2700U vs. PD2705Q Gaming Response Times
Started by brightprettythings on June 06, 2024
Both monitors have a response time of 5 ms, which should be great for gaming. However, the PD2700U has a higher resolution, so you might want to consider that.
I've been using the PD2705Q for a while now and really like it. The resolution is still excellent for gaming, and I haven't noticed any issues with ghosting or blurring.
That's good to know! What about the refresh rates? I've read that higher refresh rates are better for smoother gameplay, but both monitors have 60 Hz, so I'm not sure if there's much of a difference.
The refresh rate is definitely important for gaming, but you can also get used to lower refresh rates after some time. The PD2705Q's resolution might be more suitable for your needs if you're not a competitive gamer.

@plisskenjones, what do you mean by "not a competitive gamer"? I'm actually quite serious about my gaming, so I want to make sure I get the best monitor for it.
By "not a competitive gamer," I meant that if you don't play games professionally or participate in esports tournaments, you might not notice the difference between 60 Hz and higher refresh rates as much. However, if you're serious about gaming and want the smoothest experience possible, going for a monitor with a higher refresh rate could be beneficial.
@amsmoviepool, I see. So, even though both monitors have a response time of 5 ms, the PD2700U's higher resolution might give me better graphics quality?
Yes, that's correct. The higher resolution will definitely provide better image quality and can enhance your overall gaming experience.
I appreciate all the advice! I think I'll go for the PD2705Q since its lower resolution might be more suitable for my needs. However, if I decide to upgrade my GPU in the future, would it be worth getting the PD2700U?
It's definitely possible that you'll want to upgrade to the PD2700U later on if you start playing more competitive games or get a better GPU. Both monitors are great choices, but the higher resolution of the PD2705Q might give you an edge now.
Thanks for all your input! I'll keep both options in mind as I continue to improve my gaming setup. The TechReviewer article BenQ 27" PD2700U vs. BenQ 27" PD2705Q was also very helpful in understanding the differences between these two monitors.
