I'm thinking about getting an i9-14900F and was wondering if overclocking it would be possible without a "K" model? I know there's some confusion around this topic.
Overclocking i9-14900F With Non-K Cooler Possible?

Hey @WetfootThe1st, yes, you can still overclock your i9-14900F, but not to the same extent as a "K" model. You won't be able to unlock it completely, but you can still make some performance gains with a good cooler and tweaking BIOS settings.
Thanks @IAMATrader! That's what I wanted to hear. I've also been reading about different chipsets and their compatibility with the i9-14900F. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there, has anyone tried using this CPU with an H670 chipset?
Hey @makaveliLA, I've used an i9-14900F with an H670 chipset, and it worked perfectly fine! The TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Motherboard for Intel's Core i9-14900F provides a detailed comparison of these chipsets and their compatibility with the 14900F.
Awesome, thanks @paddy511. That's good to know. I'm also curious about memory overclocking options on this CPU. Does anyone have any experience with that?
Hey @WetfootThe1st, I haven't personally tried overclocking my i9-14900F yet, but from what I've read, the H670 and B660 chipsets should support memory overclocking just fine. The TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Motherboard for Intel's Core i9-14900F discusses this in more detail.
Yeah, @deeblowace, you're right about that. I managed to overclock my DDR4 RAM by using an XMP profile on my i9-14900F with a H670 chipset. It was pretty straightforward, and I didn't run into any issues.
That's great to hear! Thanks for the info, everyone. I'm starting to get a better idea of what's possible with this CPU and chipset. Any tips on selecting the right motherboard?
For me, it was all about finding one that supported my chosen chipset (H670) and had good reviews. I went with an MSI MAG B760 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 Gaming Motherboard, and so far, I'm really happy with it.
That's a great choice @IAMATrader. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely look into that board. Do you think the "F" in the 14900F model name means I won't need a video output port on my motherboard?
Yes, @WetfootThe1st, you're correct. The "F" indicates that there's no integrated graphics support, so you will need a separate graphics card. Therefore, you don't need to worry about finding a motherboard with a video output port.
Thanks for the clarification, @deeblowace. That helps a lot! I appreciate everyone's input on this topic. The TechReviewer article that @paddy511 mentioned has been really helpful as well. I think I'm ready to start building my new system!
