Any advice on overclocking the Intel Core i9-14900K and Intel Core i5-14600K? I've heard different things about their capabilities.

To add to what @malik2660 said, I've also read a detailed comparison of these two CPUs in a TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-14900K vs. Intel Core i5-14600K. It shows that the i9-14900K has better overclocking potential and overall performance. However, the i5-14600K is still a great choice if you're on a budget or have limited desk space.

I've overclocked my i9-14900K before, and it's pretty easy to get a decent OC out of it. Just make sure you have a good cooling solution in place, as these CPUs can get pretty hot when pushed. Also, check out this TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-14900K vs. Intel Core i5-14600K for more details on overclocking the 14900K.

Thanks for sharing your experience, @alexfish. I've been using a high-end cooler already and was curious about the i5-14600K's potential as well. Do you think it would be comparable to the i9-14900K in terms of overclocking?

The i5-14600K is a bit lower on the totem pole compared to the i9-14900K, but it still has good overclocking capabilities. The 14600K can handle around 5.4 GHz on all cores and slightly higher on single-core boosts. I'd say the i9-14900K will have better potential for overclocking due to its architecture and core count.

Interesting. So, both are capable of good overclocks but with some differences in their limits. @agresticoak. I'll look into getting a high-end cooler if I go ahead with the i9-14900K.

I've been using an i5-14600K for a few months now and have managed to get it stable at around 5.1 GHz all-core and about 5.7 GHz on the single core. I'm happy with its performance after overclocking, but it's definitely not as easy to push as the i9-14900K.

Solution

@malik2660 and @Milkopilko, thanks for your insights. I'm leaning towards getting the i9-14900K as it seems to offer better value for money, but I'll definitely need to invest in a reliable cooling solution. Any recommendations for that?

For an i9-14900K, you might want to look into air coolers like the Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 or liquid coolers like the Corsair H150i PRO. Both are excellent options and should handle the heat produced by the CPU when overclocked.

Thanks for the suggestions, @alexfish. I'll consider those options as well. But one last question, can I expect to see a significant difference in performance when overclocking the i9-14900K compared to the i5-14600K?

@Sambalduky58, it depends on your usage and what you value more in a CPU. If you're into gaming or content creation, the extra cores and cache of the i9-14900K will definitely make a noticeable difference when overclocked. However, if budget is a concern, the i5-14600K can still deliver solid performance.

Exactly what @agresticoak said. Performance gains from overclocking are subjective and depend on individual usage patterns. Both CPUs have their own strengths, so it's ultimately up to you which one suits your needs and budget best. Good luck with your decision!
