Old Stand for New ViewSonic VG3448?

Started by gurinproduct on May 10, 2024

I just got a new ViewSonic 34" VG3448 monitor and I'm wondering if it's possible to use my old stand with it. The monitor is pretty big, so I was curious if anyone here has tried this before.

Welcome, @gurinproduct! Good question. You can indeed use an older monitor stand for your new ViewSonic VG3448 as long as it meets the VESA standards (100 x 100mm) and weight requirements (14 lb.). The TechReviewer article Monitor Mounts & Stands for ViewSonic's 34" VG3448 offers more information on this.

That's good to know! @gurinproduct, do you remember the make and model of your old monitor? It might be helpful for everyone if we knew that so we could give better advice.

Thanks for the response, @stephenseifert. My old monitor was a ViewSonic VX2456-mhd. As for @lexcimus, I'm not sure about the exact make and model, but it was also a ViewSonic.

I used an old stand for my new 34" VG3448 ViewSonic monitor without any issues. It worked perfectly fine, so there's no reason why yours wouldn't work too.

That's great to hear, @andrewmcdonough! But it's important to double-check the VESA compatibility and weight limit before you decide to use your old stand. You don't want any damage to occur due to incompatibility or the stand not being able to handle the monitor's weight.

I'm considering doing the same thing, but with my LG 34WN80C-B. Is it possible to use an older stand for that as well? Just curious if anyone has tried this before.

Thanks for all the input, everyone! I'll check the VESA size and weight limit of my old stand and see if it's compatible with the new ViewSonic VG3448.

@egraider, you should also double-check the VESA compatibility and weight limit for your LG monitor. Like @stephenseifert said, it's important to ensure that the stand can handle the monitor's weight without causing any damage.

I've used a stand from an older Dell monitor with my new ViewSonic 34" VG3448, and it worked just fine! The VESA size was identical, so there were no issues. Just make sure to double-check everything before you try it out.

Great to hear, @malik2660! It's always good to know that these transitions can be done smoothly. And yes, checking compatibility is key. If anyone has any questions or concerns about their specific setup, feel free to ask!

Thanks again for all the advice, everyone! I'll go ahead and try using my old stand with the ViewSonic VG3448 and make sure everything's compatible first. Fingers crossed it works out!

Good luck, @gurinproduct! And if you have any questions or run into any issues along the way, don't hesitate to ask for help. The community here is always happy to lend a hand.
