I've recently built a new PC with an Intel Core i5-9400 CPU and I'm not sure whether to get a modular cable design power supply unit (PSU). Can anyone recommend one for my setup? Also, is the modular cable design really necessary?
Modular Cable Design Necessary With Core i5-9400?

Modular PSUs can be great if you have a lot of cables in your case. They make it easier to manage and route cables. But whether you need one or not depends on your specific build and components.
I've been using the EVGA SuperNOVA G5 Series power supply, which is fully modular. It's worked well for me so far and the cables are pretty manageable.
Yeah, it's more about personal preference. Some people love the tidiness of modular cables, while others don't see much of a difference. I've never had issues with non-modular cables in my builds.
The TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Power Supply for Intel's Core i5-9400 CPU discusses the pros and cons of modular cable designs for power supply units. It might be helpful to check that out before making your decision. Also, with the Core i5-9400 CPU, it's not necessarily required to have a modular design. However, having a PSU with appropriate connectors and compatibility for your specific components is crucial.
Thanks for the input, @jonnybravo76. I'll definitely read that article. What about power efficiency? Is there any difference between modular and non-modular PSUs?
Power efficiency can vary between different models of PSUs, regardless of whether they're modular or not. However, higher efficiency PSUs, such as those with 80 PLUS certification, can help reduce electricity bills and improve system reliability.
That's good to know. I'll make sure to consider power efficiency as well when choosing a PSU. Thanks for the advice everyone!
No problem, @ciciplum. Just remember that it ultimately comes down to your personal preference and what you're comfortable with in your build.
Exactly! And don't forget to check out that TechReviewer article Choosing the Best Power Supply for Intel's Core i5-9400 CPU I mentioned earlier. It might help make your decision a bit easier.
