LG 34WQ75C-B FPS Boost in CSGO & Fortnite?

Started by adhdcamper on May 11, 2024

I recently got an LG 34WQ75C-B monitor and was wondering if it can provide a significant FPS boost in games like CSGO and Fortnite compared to my old monitor with a lower refresh rate. Can anyone share their experiences or opinions on this?

Interesting points from @GameBoyAde. It's also important to note that the refresh rate of the LG 34WQ75C-B is 60 Hz, which might not provide as smooth an experience compared to monitors with higher refresh rates. I've read this TechReviewer article about gaming monitor refresh rates: Is the LG 34" 34WQ75C-B Good for Gaming?. The article suggests that for competitive games like CSGO and Fortnite, having a refresh rate of at least 144 Hz can make a noticeable difference in the smoothness of gameplay.

Congratulations on the new monitor! The LG 34WQ75C-B has a higher resolution than your previous one, which should look great in-game. However, just having a higher resolution doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a FPS boost.

@LanaAndNeal Thanks for sharing that link. I'm now curious if there's any other factor that could help me get an FPS boost in CSGO and Fortnite without spending too much on a higher refresh rate monitor?

Another factor to consider is the monitor's response time. A faster response time can reduce input lag and ghosting, which might indirectly affect your FPS performance. The LG 34WQ75C-B has a 5 ms response time, which should be good for most gamers.

@Deranzeef That's helpful to know. But still, I'm not sure if the 60 Hz refresh rate of this monitor is optimal for CSGO and Fortnite.

I can understand your concern, @adhdcamper. It's true that higher refresh rates can provide a smoother gaming experience. However, it also depends on individual preferences and how much you're willing to spend. The LG 34WQ75C-B has a great overall performance with its high resolution and decent response time. If the price difference between this monitor and one with a higher refresh rate is too significant for you, you might want to consider other factors like the monitor's design or additional features.

@adhdcamper Also, remember that even if your new monitor doesn't provide a massive FPS boost, having a more comfortable setup with better ergonomics and a wider screen can improve your overall gaming experience. Don't forget about aspects like cable management, monitor stands, or speakers, which can add to the immersion.

@LanaAndNeal That's true. I'll keep those factors in mind when making my decision. Thanks everyone for sharing their insights!
