Started by monkeyking11 on June 04, 2024

I'm looking for a new gaming monitor and I'm trying to decide between the LG 27GN800-B and the LG 27GL83A-B. Can anyone recommend which one would be best for gaming? Also, does anybody have any tips on what factors I should consider when choosing a gaming monitor?

Both of these monitors are great choices for gaming. The key differences between them are their designs and sizes. The 27GN800-B has a curved screen while the 27GL83A-B is flat. They both have a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and response times of 1 ms. Regarding factors to consider when choosing a gaming monitor, you should look at aspects like refresh rate, response time, and screen size. Solution

I prefer flat screens over curved ones, so for me the LG 27GL83A-B would be better. But if someone prefers a wider field of view, then the 27GN800-B's curved screen might suit them better. Besides that, the key performance specs like resolution, refresh rate, and response time seem to be the same for both models.

I've been using the LG 27GL83A-B for a few months now and it's great! The only thing is that it has more bezels than the 27GN800-B. However, if you're looking for an ultrawide monitor, then the 27GN800-B might be better as it offers more screen real estate.

Thanks for the input! I'm starting to lean towards the LG 27GL83A-B because of its flat screen and slightly cheaper price. However, I'm still unsure if I need an ultrawide screen or not. Does anyone have experience with using an ultrawide monitor for gaming? Are they worth it?

An ultrawide monitor like the LG 27GN800-B can be really great for gaming, especially for immersive experiences in RPGs and open-world games. The wider field of view makes a big difference when playing these types of games. However, if you're mainly into fast-paced shooters or competitive games, then a regular widescreen might be more suitable.

I have an ultrawide monitor and it's fantastic for watching movies and browsing the web, but for gaming, I don't think it offers much of an advantage. It's great for certain types of games like RPGs as @CardiacCatFan mentioned, but for most other genres, I didn't notice a significant difference compared to my old widescreen monitor.

That's true, an ultrawide can be a bit overkill for some gaming genres. But if you have the budget and space for it, it can definitely enhance your gaming experience, especially for immersion in certain games. It also allows you to have multiple windows open side by side which can be useful for multitasking.

I think I'll try out the LG 27GL83A-B first and see how I like it. If I decide later on that I want an ultrawide, then I could always upgrade. But for now, it seems like the flat screen might be more practical for my gaming setup.

That's a good plan! And don't forget to read up on these monitors' specs and check out some user reviews before making your final decision. Good luck with your search!

Yeah, happy shopping! Let us know how you like your new monitor once you get it.

Will do! Thanks for all the help!
