Key Diff. Between H110 & Q370 for Core i3-9300?

Started by DeepBlueSeaz on May 04, 2024

I'm looking to build a new computer and need some advice on the best motherboard for my Intel Core i3-9300 processor. I've been comparing the H110 and Q370 chipsets, but I can't seem to find any significant differences between them. Can anyone help me out?

Sure thing, @DeepBlueSeaz! The key difference between H110 and Q370 motherboards for Intel's Core i3-9300 processor is that the Q370 chipset is intended for business use cases, with limited availability in standalone motherboards. The H110 motherboard features fewer PCIe expansion slots and has more limited compatibility compared to the Q370. Both chipsets support LGA 1151 socket but offer different feature sets and capabilities. You can find a detailed comparison of these chipsets in this TechReviewer article: Choosing the Best Motherboard for Intel's Core i3-9300.

Solution

Thanks for the information, @amsmoviepool! I guess I'll go with the H110 then, as it's more readily available and should be sufficient for my needs. What about memory overclocking? Does the H110 support that?

The H110 does not support memory overclocking, @cocoabeachbrews. It's designed more for basic computing tasks rather than performance tuning. If you're interested in overclocking your memory, you might want to consider a Q370 motherboard or another chipset with better capabilities.

That makes sense, @jack0lan. I appreciate the advice! I'm also looking for a video output port since my CPU has integrated graphics. Will the H110 have an HDMI port?

Yes, @DeepBlueSeaz, most H110 motherboards should have at least one HDMI port to support your Intel Core i3-9300's integrated graphics. This will allow you to connect a monitor without needing a separate graphics card.

I'm just getting into building PCs and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on the best H110 motherboard for my Core i3-9300? Any suggestions?

Hello @Akalegend! For an H110 motherboard compatible with the Core i3-9300, you might want to check out models like the Gigabyte B450M DS3H or the MSI ProSeries AMD B450M Max. Both of these motherboards offer decent performance at a reasonable price. Just make sure they have all the ports and features you need for your build!

Thanks, @jack0lan! I appreciate it. One last question: does the H110 support NVMe SSDs?

Yes, @DeepBlueSeaz, most H110 motherboards do support NVMe SSDs. You'll just want to make sure you choose a model with an M.2 slot that supports PCIe 3.0 x4 for optimal performance.

Great! Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'm ready to start building my new PC now! Goodbye!
