I'm looking to buy a new CPU for gaming and can't decide between the Intel Core i3-12100 and the i5-9400. Can anyone provide some insights?

I think you should check out this TechReviewer article Intel Core i3-12100 vs. Intel Core i5-9400 that compares the two CPUs in detail. It might give you a better idea of which one is better for your needs.

Both are decent choices for gaming, but the i5-9400 has more cores which can help with gaming performance.

@ChrisTheGirl. I read through the article and found it quite helpful. According to the article, the i5-9400 seems to have an edge when it comes to gaming performance due to its higher core count and better DDR support.

Yeah, that's what I've been using for a while now, and I haven't had any issues with game performance. The i5-9400 does seem to handle games pretty well.

One thing to consider is your budget. If you can afford the i5-9400, it's probably worth the extra money for better gaming performance.

Good point, @graemej1. However, if budget is a concern, the i3-12100 might still provide decent gaming experience with a good cooler and a high-quality GPU.

That's true. Thanks everyone for your input. I'll definitely need to think about my budget and what games I'll be playing before making a decision.

No problem, @harlequinmay. Just take your time and make sure you're happy with the choice you make.

Exactly. There's no rush. Good luck with your decision!
