Intel Core i9-9900K vs i9-9900KF - Better for Gaming PCs?

Started by GoldenBlunts on May 25, 2024

I've been looking into building a new gaming PC and I'm torn between the Intel Core i9-9900K and the i9-9900KF. Does anyone have experience with these two CPUs? Are they worth the extra cost for the K model?

Interesting! I'll definitely check out that TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-9900K vs. Intel Core i9-9900KF you mentioned, @DrNoesis. Thanks for clarifying!

I recently built a PC with the 9900K, and it has been running great! The performance is outstanding for gaming. You won't be disappointed with that choice.

Hey @GoldenBlunts, I've used both the Core i9-9900K and i9-9900KF in my personal projects. Interestingly, there's actually no difference between them in terms of core types, core counts, frequencies, cache capacities, overclocking, PCIe, DDR support, and use cases. The TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-9900K vs. Intel Core i9-9900KF explains it all in detail.

Wow, that's surprising! So the 9900KF doesn't have any advantages over the 9900K? I thought the "F" model was supposed to be more professional or something.

Yeah, I always assumed there would be some differences between the two. Good to know they're essentially the same!

Exactly! It's worth mentioning that while there is no performance difference, the 9900KF sometimes comes with a slightly higher price tag due to its "F" designation. So if you're on a budget or just looking for the best value, the 9900K might be the better choice.

just wanted to chime in and say I recently built a PC with the 9900K and it's been fantastic. The gaming performance is top-notch and I haven't encountered any bottlenecks.

That's great to hear, @IncredibleDest. It sounds like both the 9900K and 9900KF are excellent choices for gaming PCs.
