Intel Core i9-14900F vs. 12900KF Performance?

Started by makeherblush on July 10, 2024

I'm currently trying to decide between the Intel Core i9-14900F and the Core i9-12900KF for my upcoming build. Has anyone had any experience or thoughts on these two processors? I've seen some comparisons but it would be great to hear from users who have actually used them.

Sure, @LionLambert, I've read the TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-14900F vs. Intel Core i9-12900KF which provides a detailed comparison between the two CPUs. In my opinion, the Core i9-14900F has a slight edge due to its higher single-core max turbo boost frequency and additional core count.

Hey @makeherblush, both of those CPUs are really great choices! I recently built a PC with the Core i9-14900F, and I'm happy with its performance. The extra core count and turbo frequency help with gaming and content creation.

Thanks for sharing your experience, @lousiana. You mentioned using the 14900F, but how does it compare to the 12900KF? And can you tell me more about the TechReviewer article that was referenced in another thread?

That's interesting, @lousiana. I didn't realize the difference in single-core performance would make such a big impact. Thanks for mentioning that article! Does anyone else have any other insights or experiences with these processors?

I've also been considering these two CPUs for my build. While the Core i9-14900F does seem to offer better raw performance, the 12900KF's overclocking capabilities might be appealing too. But then again, I'm not sure if that's worth sacrificing some of those extra features on the 14900F.

Good point, @two-feathers. Overclocking can definitely lead to better performance, but it also comes with risks and increased power consumption. It really depends on your specific needs and budget.

Thanks for all the input, guys. I think I'm leaning more towards the 14900F based on the higher core count and single-core turbo frequency. But I'll keep the overclocking aspect of the 12900KF in mind too.

Just remember that no matter which CPU you choose, having a good GPU is crucial for overall system performance. Good luck with your decision!
