I'm in the process of building a new gaming PC and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i9-13900KS and the Intel Core i5-9600K. Does anyone have experience with these CPUs or can recommend which one would be better for gaming?
Intel Core i9-13900KS vs. i5-9600K: Best for Gaming?

I've been using an i5-9600K in my current build, and it's served me well for general use and gaming. However, I recently read a TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-13900KS vs. Intel Core i5-9600K that compared the performance of both CPUs in gaming scenarios. The 13900KS had better overall performance due to its higher single-core max turbo boost frequency and additional cores.
Thanks for sharing the link, @stevebconnect. I've been using an i9-13900KS for a few months now, and it's made a noticeable difference in my gaming experience. The extra cores really help with multitasking and running resource-intensive games without any issues. Plus, the support for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 is a huge bonus.
That sounds great! But how does the i9-13900KS handle temperature and power consumption compared to the i5-9600K?
I've noticed that both CPUs run relatively cool under normal workloads, but the i9-13900KS does heat up a bit more during intense gaming sessions. As for power consumption, the i9-13900KS consumes slightly more power than the i5-9600K, but it's not too significant.
I've used both CPUs in my past builds and can vouch for @wheatthin92's experience. The i9-13900KS offers better performance, but it does come at a higher price point. If you're on a budget or don't need the extra power, the i5-9600K is still a solid choice.
Good to know! So if I were to go for the 13900KS, would I be sacrificing any other significant feature by not choosing the i5-9600K?
Not really. The only potential drawback of going with the i9-13900KS is the higher price tag. However, considering the improved performance and future-proofing with DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 support, I think it's worth the investment if you can afford it.
Yeah, the extra performance is definitely worth it for me. But again, it depends on your budget and specific needs. If you don't need the additional power or plan to upgrade in the near future, the i5-9600K is still a great choice.
Thanks everyone for your input! Based on what you've shared, I think I'll go with the i9-13900KS. But I'm still not sure about the cooling solution. Can anyone recommend some high-end CPU coolers that work well with these CPUs?
The Noctua NH-D15 is a fantastic air cooler that works great with both CPUs. It's a bit on the pricier side, but it's worth it for the excellent performance and low noise levels.
I also have good experience with the Corsair H100i liquid cooler. It's a high-performance option that's easy to install and provides excellent cooling without too much hassle.
Great suggestions! Thanks again, everyone. I'll look into these coolers and make my final decision soon.
No problem, @eyelandreader. Good luck with your build! And remember, always keep an eye on TechReviewer for the latest CPU comparisons and reviews. Happy gaming!
