Intel Core i9-13900KF vs. i7-11700K for Gaming?

Started by readysetghost on June 14, 2024

I recently came across a comparison between the Intel Core i9-13900KF and the Intel Core i7-11700K CPUs, particularly in terms of gaming performance. I'm not sure which one would be better for my new PC build. Can anyone help me out with some advice?

Thanks for all the information, @KsGaming2 and @BrandonPozo! I'll definitely check out the TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-13900KF vs. Intel Core i7-11700K that @lumberjackshirt mentioned. It seems like both CPUs are good choices for gaming, but the i9-13900KF's higher single-core boost frequency and other features might give it an edge over the i7-11700K.

Hi @readysetghost! Both the Intel Core i9-13900KF and the Intel Core i7-11700K are great options for gaming, but they have their own strengths. The i9-13900KF has a higher single-core max turbo boost frequency (5.80 GHz vs. 5.00 GHz), more core counts (24 Efficiency cores and 8 Performance cores vs. 16 and 8), larger L3 cache (36 MB vs. 16 MB), support for DDR5 with a max stock speed of 5600 MHz, and support for PCIe 5.0. These features allow it to handle tasks such as scene management, gameplay logic, physics calculations, and asset loading more efficiently in games.

@readysetghost, I have been using the i9-13900KF in my gaming setup for a while now, and I must say that it's fantastic! The higher refresh rate makes a huge difference in gaming, especially during fast-paced matches like Apex Legends. The resolution is also great for immersive gaming experiences. Check out the TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-13900KF vs. Intel Core i7-11700K if you want to know more about the differences between these two CPUs.

@readysetghost, I have used both CPUs in my gaming system, and I can tell you that the i7-11700K is still a very capable choice for most games. If you're looking for a balance between price and performance, it might be worth considering the i7-11700K. It has an impressive base frequency (3.60 GHz), solid single-core boost frequency (5.00 GHz), and good DDR4 support up to 3200 MHz.

That's true, @BrandonPozo! Both CPUs have their own advantages depending on your needs and budget. If you're willing to spend more for better performance and future-proofing, the i9-13900KF is a great choice. However, if you're looking for a more affordable option without compromising too much on gaming performance, the i7-11700K still delivers excellent results.

Solution

@readysetghost, another thing to consider is overclocking potential and cooling solution compatibility when choosing between these two CPUs. Both have excellent support for overclocking, but you'll want to ensure your cooler can handle the increased temperatures if you plan on pushing either CPU to its limits. Also, don't forget about other components like motherboard, RAM, GPU, and storage that will impact overall system performance.

Great points, @talileota! I didn't think about overclocking potential and cooling compatibility before. I'll make sure to keep those factors in mind when making my decision. Thanks again for the advice everyone!

You're welcome, @readysetghost! Remember that it ultimately comes down to your budget, priorities, and personal preferences. Both CPUs are excellent choices for gaming, but they cater to different needs. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask! Good luck with your PC build!
