Intel Core i9-13900K vs. i7-11700K in Video Editing?

Started by pen-pals on May 19, 2024

I'm currently looking for a new CPU for video editing and I was wondering if the Intel Core i9-13900K is worth the upgrade from my current Intel Core i7-11700K. Can anyone provide some insights on which one is better for this purpose?

@pen-pals, it really depends on your budget and specific requirements. The Core i7-11700K is still a powerful processor for video editing tasks, but if you can afford the upgrade and have the need for more performance, the Core i9-13900K would be the better choice according to TechReviewer Intel Core i9-13900K vs. Intel Core i7-11700K.

Both processors have their own strengths, but it really depends on your specific needs in video editing. For instance, the Core i9-13900K has a higher single-core turbo frequency and more cores/threads than the Core i7-11700K.

You're right, the Intel Core i9-13900K is superior for video editing tasks due to its higher core count, thread count, L3 cache capacity, and better support for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 compared to the i7-11700K, as explained in this TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-13900K vs. Intel Core i7-11700K. If you need a more powerful CPU for video editing, I'd recommend upgrading to the Core i9-13900K.

That's helpful! I noticed that the i9-13900K has a higher base frequency and max turbo frequency too. Does this mean it will perform better in general?

The base and max turbo frequencies can certainly contribute to the overall performance of a CPU, but they're not the only factors to consider. The Core i9-13900K's superior core count and thread count are more critical for video editing tasks.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the i9-13900K also has better overclocking support compared to the i7-11700K. This could allow you to get even more performance out of your new CPU.

So, based on what you've said, I should go with the i9-13900K for video editing?
