I'm considering getting either the Intel Core i9-12900KS or the i9-12900KF for my gaming PC build, but I can't decide which one to go for. Any suggestions on how they would perform in a gaming setup?

Both of those CPUs should provide excellent gaming performance due to their similar core types, core counts, frequencies, and cache capacities. The main difference lies in their base frequencies and single-core turbo boost frequencies.
I've been using the Intel Core i9-12900KS for a while now, and I must say it's fantastic! The higher single-core turbo frequency makes a huge difference in gaming, especially during fast-paced matches like Apex Legends. The resolution is also great for immersive gaming experiences.

@HabaneroSauce, thanks for sharing that link! I'll definitely check it out. Do you think having more base frequency makes much of a difference in gaming performance?
Yes, having a higher base frequency can make a noticeable difference in gaming, especially during fast-paced games like Overwatch or Call of Duty. However, it's also important to consider other factors such as the number of cores and cache capacity.
I agree with @lightyear44. The higher turbo frequency on the KS model is great for handling intensive tasks and providing smooth performance in gaming. But if you have limited desk space, the smaller size of the i9-12900KF might be more suitable.
@seriousdolphin That's true, my desk space is quite limited. I think I'll check out the TechReviewer article Intel Core i9-12900KS vs. Intel Core i9-12900KF to see if it helps me make a decision. Thanks for all the advice!
