I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i9-11900K and i9-10900K for my upcoming PC build. Can anyone provide some insights on their differences? I've seen some comparisons online, but I'd love to hear from people who have firsthand experience with these CPUs.
Intel Core i9-11900K vs i9-10900K - Differences?

Hey @karina113, both the Intel Core i9-11900K and i9-10900K are excellent processors, but they do have some differences. The 11900K has 8 cores, while the 10900K has 10 cores. Additionally, the base frequency of the 11900K is 3.50 GHz compared to the 10900K's 3.70 GHz. I'd say that if you're primarily doing gaming or content creation, the 11900K might be a better choice due to its higher turbo frequencies and overall performance.
Interesting point from @Booshie317. So would it mean that the 11900K is generally faster for single-threaded tasks, while the 10900K has an edge in multi-threaded tasks?
@AbominableEagle That's correct! The 11900K is indeed better suited for single-threaded tasks due to its higher turbo frequencies, which makes it excellent for gaming and content creation. On the other hand, the 10900K's additional cores make it more suitable for multi-threaded workloads. TechReviewer recently published a comparison article about these two CPUs, which you might find helpful: Intel Core i9-11900K vs. Intel Core i9-10900K.
@riveroaken, thanks for sharing that link to the TechReviewer article! I'll definitely check it out. So based on what you all have said, if my main focus is gaming and content creation, should I go for the 11900K or would the extra cores of the 10900K still be beneficial?
@karina113 It really depends on your specific needs. If you're going to use a lot of applications that benefit from multiple cores and can take advantage of them, like video editing software or 3D rendering programs, then the i9-10900K might be more suitable. However, if you're mostly gaming or doing content creation tasks that are better optimized for single-threaded performance, then the i9-11900K could be a better fit.
@Liolaina That makes sense. I mostly game and do some video editing on the side. I guess it's worth considering getting the 11900K for gaming, but should I still expect any issues with my video editing tasks? Could the 10900K provide a significant advantage there?
@karina113 While the extra cores of the i9-10900K could theoretically be beneficial for video editing, it's not guaranteed that you'll see a significant improvement over the i9-11900K. The difference in performance will largely depend on the specific software you're using and how well it can utilize multiple cores. In general, most video editing software is optimized for single-threaded performance, so you might not notice much of a difference between the two CPUs in that regard.
@Booshie317 Alright, I appreciate the input! It sounds like the i9-11900K should serve me well for my needs. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and insights!
