Intel Core i9-10900KF vs i9-9900KF for Video Editing?

Started by josejenson on May 12, 2024

I'm considering buying a new CPU for video editing. I was thinking of getting either the Intel Core i9-10900KF or the i9-9900KF. Can you guys recommend which one would be better for this purpose?

Solution

@lunapopdrop. I read through the article. It seems that the i9-10900KF has more cores, threads, L3 cache, and a higher base frequency than the i9-9900KF, making it a better choice for video editing due to its improved performance in multi-core tasks.

I've been using an i9-9900KF for video editing for a while now. It handles my tasks well but I can feel that when I have multiple instances of Adobe Premiere running at the same time, it starts to struggle a bit with rendering and exporting videos. So, based on my experience, I would recommend the i9-10900KF for video editing.

@linkebungu. Your experience is very helpful. But I'm also concerned about the price difference between these two CPUs. The i9-10900KF is quite expensive compared to the i9-9900KF.

Yes, the i9-10900KF does come with a higher price tag. It really depends on your specific needs and budget. If you can afford it and you're working with large video files or need multiple instances of video editing software running simultaneously, then the i9-10900KF would be the better choice.

Good point, @lunapopdrop. I guess I'll have to weigh the pros and cons before making my decision. Thanks for the advice everyone.

@SikhMagnet Don't forget to check out the TechReviewer article again. It provides a detailed comparison of these two CPUs and might help you make an informed decision.

I'm glad I could help, @josejenson. Good luck with your decision!
