Intel Core i7-14700K vs Intel Core i9-12900F for Gaming

Started by friends4eva on July 11, 2024

Has anyone tried the Intel Core i7-14700K or the i9-12900F? I've been looking at them for gaming, but can't decide which one to get. Any advice?

That's good to hear, @LarsofArcana. I've been considering both those CPUs for a while now. Have you seen this TechReviewer article comparing them? Intel Core i7-14700K vs. Intel Core i9-12900F It might help with your decision.

Yeah, I'm using the 14700K and it's working great! It handles most of my games without any issues.

Thanks, @stevierayblonde. I'll check out the article. The 12900F also seems to have some great specs, though. What do you think about it?

I haven't tried the 12900F, but from what I've read, it looks like a good choice too. It's just that the 14700K has been working well for me.

I used to have the i9-12900F, and it was an excellent CPU for gaming. However, I recently switched to the i7-14700K, and it's also amazing! They both perform great in games.

So, it seems like both are good choices then. But what about the single-core max turbo boost frequency? Does that matter much for gaming?

From my experience with @LarsofArcana and @Statolith, both CPUs offer excellent performance in games. However, the i7-14700K has a higher single-core max turbo boost frequency, which can be an advantage in some situations.

That's interesting. I'll have to consider that as well. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

No problem, @friends4eva. Just remember that ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and your specific use case. Good luck with your decision!
