Solution

Yeah, @lunapopdrop's suggestion to check out the TechReviewer article is a good one. I have both of those CPUs in my setup, and they offer great gaming performance with the right cooler.

I've been using the i7-14700K for a while now, and it's absolutely fantastic! The extra cores really help with multitasking and running resource-intensive games smoothly. It also handles overclocking well if you're into that kind of thing.

That's great to hear, @AndItsDrew! I'm mostly interested in gaming performance though. Would you say the i7-14700K has a clear advantage over the i7-12700KF when it comes to gaming?

Well, @davebruns, both CPUs offer excellent gaming performance with high-performance coolers. The i7-14700K does have some advantages in terms of core count, L3 cache, and max turbo frequencies. However, as others have mentioned, most modern games don't benefit from having more than 6-8 cores.

I've been using the i7-12700KF for a while now, and it's also great for gaming. The smaller form factor is nice if you have limited desk space, and color accuracy is important for visually rich games. It really comes down to personal preference and what you value most in your gaming experience.

Thanks for the input, everyone! So, should I go for the i7-14700K or i7-12700KF based on my needs? Are there any other factors I should consider?

Ultimately, it's up to you, @davebruns. If you're looking for a CPU with more cores and higher frequencies, the i7-14700K might be the better choice. But if you value color accuracy and have limited desk space, the i7-12700KF could be the way to go. Just make sure to get a high-performance cooler regardless of which one you choose.

@FreeCitoyen is right. It really comes down to personal preferences and your specific needs. Don't forget that having the fastest GPU matters too, as it will likely be the bottleneck in most gaming scenarios.

Thanks again for all the advice! I'll have a closer look at the TechReviewer article Intel Core i7-14700K vs. Intel Core i7-12700KF and make my decision based on what's most important to me in a gaming PC.
