Started by Mercgunner on May 14, 2024

I'm in the market for a new processor and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i7-14700K and the i5-13400 for video editing. Any suggestions on which one would be better? Also, has anyone tried using either of these processors for video editing?

Of course, @CowboysCrewLove. Here's the link to the article on TechReviewer Intel Core i7-14700K vs. Intel Core i5-13400. It goes into detail about the performance of both processors for various use cases, including video editing. I hope you find it helpful!

Hey @Mercgunner, both the Intel Core i7-14700K and i5-13400 are excellent choices for video editing. I recently read a TechReviewer article about them Intel Core i7-14700K vs. Intel Core i5-13400. According to the article, the i7-14700K has a higher core count (20 vs. 10), larger L3 cache (33 MB vs. 20 MB), and supports DDR5 with a max stock speed of 5600 MHz. These features make it more suitable for handling complex video editing tasks and multitasking.

Thanks @CowboysCrewLove. That's very helpful. The i7-14700K sounds like a better choice for my needs then, especially since I often work on large projects with multiple layers and effects.

Hey there @Mercgunner! I've been using the i5-13400 for video editing and it works well for me, but I can see how the i7-14700K might be more suited to your needs. I mostly do basic edits and simple color grading with my setup. The i5-13400 has been sufficient for what I need.

@EinFahren That's great to know. It really depends on the type of video editing you're doing. For heavy duty tasks, the i7-14700K would likely be a better choice. But if you're working with simpler projects, the i5-13400 should do just fine.

Thanks for the input, @EinFahren and @CowboysCrewLove. I think I'll go with the Intel Core i7-14700K based on your suggestions. Hopefully it will help me handle my large video editing projects more efficiently.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I recently upgraded to the i7-14700K for video editing, and I couldn't be happier with the performance. It's made a huge difference in how quickly I can edit and export my videos.

That's great to hear, @yeskaydee. Your experience reinforces my decision to go with the i7-14700K. I'll look forward to improved performance when I start working on my next project.

@yeskaydee Can you share the TechReviewer article you mentioned earlier? It would be interesting to read more about the differences between these two processors and how they perform in video editing tasks.
