Intel Core i7-14700 vs. i9-12900 for Gaming?

I'm in the process of building a new PC and I'm trying to decide between an Intel Core i7-14700 and i9-12900 for gaming purposes. Has anyone here used either one or have any advice? I'm looking forward to hearing your experiences.

The Core i7-14700 has a single-core max turbo boost frequency of 5.40 GHz, which is great for gaming. However, the Core i9-12900 has a slightly lower single-core max turbo boost frequency at 5.10 GHz but still provides excellent performance.
