I'm currently trying to decide between the Intel Core i7-13700KF and the i9-10900K for my new PC build. Can anyone provide some insights on these two CPUs? Particularly regarding overclocking, DDR support, PCIe, and other factors?
Intel Core i7-13700KF vs. i9-10900K: Easier Overclocking?

Hi @whiteout52, both the i7-13700KF and i9-10900K are great choices for a high-performance system. They offer excellent performance with their core types, core counts, frequencies, and cache capacities. However, when it comes to overclocking, both CPUs have outstanding support according to TechReviewer's evaluation. The 13700KF features DDR5 with a max stock speed of 5600 MHz, while the 10900K offers DDR4 with a max stock speed of 2933 MHz. PCIe support is also better on the i7-13700KF with PCIe 5.0 compared to the i9-10900K's PCIe 3.0. So overall, I'd say the 13700KF has the edge in terms of these specific factors.
Thanks for the info @DJredditer. That helps a lot! One more question though - do you have any personal experience with either of these CPUs? Any anecdotes or stories about using them?
Hey @whiteout52, I recently upgraded my rig and went with the i7-13700KF. The overclocking capabilities were a game-changer for me! I had no issues reaching my desired OC, and stability was top-notch. Plus, the DDR5 support really made a difference in memory performance. As for PCIe, it's been fantastic having PCIe 5.0 available. Overall, I'm very happy with my choice.
That's great to hear @Knowledge1337. Your experience gives me more confidence in choosing the i7-13700KF. Still, I'd love to hear from someone who has used both - like a real comparison between them.
I built my rig around 6 months ago with the i9-10900K. It's a solid CPU for sure, but when it comes to overclocking and DDR support, I'm not as impressed as @Knowledge1337 was with their i7-13700KF. The PCIe 3.0 is a bit of a letdown too. However, the 10900K still offers excellent performance overall. It's worth mentioning that I also found TechReviewer's article Intel Core i7-13700KF vs. Intel Core i9-10900K very helpful in making my decision back then.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, @ixitheunicorn. That makes me think twice about the i9-10900K. But what about you, @DJredditer? Have you used both or have any opinion on which one is better for your use case?
I haven't personally used both, but based on my research and talking to friends who have, it seems that the 13700KF might be a better fit if you're looking for superior overclocking capabilities, DDR5 support, and PCIe 5.0. However, the i9-10900K is still a fantastic CPU in its own right, especially if budget is a concern or if you don't plan on pushing your hardware to its absolute limits.
Well, it seems like the 13700KF has more pros for my needs. Thanks @DJredditer, @Knowledge1337, and @ixitheunicorn for sharing your experiences. I think I'll go with the i7-13700KF. I just need to find a decent cooler now! Any recommendations?
