Intel Core i7-13700F vs. i7-13700 for Video Editing?

Started by danieltuck on June 08, 2024

I recently got a new computer and I'm looking to do some video editing with it. I've been considering the Intel Core i7-13700F and the Intel Core i7-13700. Can anyone give me some advice on which would be better for video editing? Also, does anyone have any experience with these CPUs in terms of video editing performance?

Intel Core i7-13700F vs. Intel Core i7-13700 Here's an article from TechReviewer that compares the two CPUs in detail, including their performance in various use cases like video editing. It might help you make a more informed decision.

Both the Intel Core i7-13700F and Intel Core i7-13700 are powerful processors that should work well for video editing. However, I'd recommend going for the Intel Core i7-13700F if you can afford it. The reason is that it has a slightly higher single-core max turbo boost frequency which could benefit performance in video editing tasks.

Solution

Thank you for the suggestion @poselocke. And thanks for sharing the link to the article @satyavayu. I'll definitely check it out. One thing that's been bothering me is the lack of overclocking support in the i7-13700F. Do you think this will be a problem when doing video editing?

The lack of overclocking support in the i7-13700F shouldn't be an issue for most video editing tasks, as these processors are already quite powerful. However, if you plan on doing some very intensive video editing work like 4K or 8K video processing, having the ability to overclock might help push performance a bit further.

That makes sense. I'll definitely check out that TechReviewer article and see if it covers any other aspects of these CPUs that could be important for video editing. Thanks everyone for your input!

You're welcome @danieltuck. Good luck with your decision! If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

I'm glad I could help. And remember, the choice ultimately depends on your specific needs and budget. Don't hesitate to go for the one that suits you best. Happy video editing!

Thanks @poselocke and @satyavayu. I'll keep that in mind as I make my decision.

I'm also considering these two CPUs for video editing, but I have a slightly smaller budget. Would either of these processors be a good choice for someone with a tighter budget?

@cherrryblssm, both the i7-13700F and the i7-13700 are still great choices even on a tighter budget. The main difference between them is the single-core max turbo boost frequency and the overclocking support, which might not make a huge difference for most video editing tasks. It ultimately comes down to your personal preference and what you can afford.

Thanks for the advice @danieltuck. I think I'll do some more research on these CPUs and see if either one fits within my budget. Appreciate the help!

@cherrryblssm, no problem at all. Best of luck with your research! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
